About Aidan Loy is a solicitor specialising exclusively in all aspects of employment law. After qualifying with global law firm DLA, he worked in the City for Stephenson Harwood before founding and leading the City employment departments at Rosling King and Hill Dickinson. He has over 12 years experience of all aspects of employment law, both in the UK and overseas. Unusually for a City partner he has extensive advocacy experience, both in the UK and Ireland. Acting predominantly for employers and high net worth individuals, he has specialised in City financial disputes, corporate takeover and demerger activity, boardroom disputes and TUPE. He is one of a few employment practitioners with personal experience of large scale, redundancy procedures throughout the European Union, particularly France, the low countries, Germany and Spain. Experienced across the whole range of economic activity, he has particular expertise in finance, manufacturing, retail and service sectors and transport with particular expertise in rail, aviation and shipping. He has a long history of working for clients – both corporate and individual – in the United States. His cases in Discrimination and Public Interest Disclosure (“whistleblowing”) have been particularly successful, leading to the (then) largest ever Tribunal settlement. He has launched his own Firm through a belief that quality of service and practical advice are the keystones of client relationships, and that most law firms pay only lip service to these ideals. Prior to qualification he was a “fast stream” civil servant in the Department of Employment and at various times was seconded to the European Commission (with which he maintains particularly close links), the French Government (Ecole National d’Administration and a Prefecture), and HM embassies in Paris and Prague. He was, for three years, the Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Employment. He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees (in Zoology and Entomology – not law!), was commissioned in the Royal Navy, and is an experienced scuba diver, fell walker and Aikidoka. He is divorced with two children and lives in London and Yorkshire. Member of the Employment Lawyers Association and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society of London.
